Rock Chung Kwai centres on the well-known folk deity Chung Kwai, reinterpreted into this original rock musical. Legend holds that Chung Kwai possessed a fiery sense of integrity and abhorrence of evil. After death he became the Celestial Master commanding ghost officers, and this is where our story begins. Wielding immense fury and power to capture wandering spirits, he gradually becomes consumed by his own obsession. He is entangled in a catastrophe that threatens the order of the afterlife. Amidst the intertwining realms of humans and ghosts, life and death, Chung Kwai must confront his own convictions.
Blending traditional supernatural themes with a contemporary lens, the production crafts a stage world both eerie and vibrant through rock music, song-and-dance sequences, and martial arts choreography.
