Established in 1979, Chung Ying Theatre Company (Chung Ying) is one of the flagship performing companies financially supported by the HKSAR and a Venue Partner of Kwai Tsing Theatre.  Chung Ying, being one of the first local theatre companies introducing “Theatre-in-Education” to Hong Kong, is dedicated to promote dramatic arts and pay special effort on educational and outreach programmes.  The Board of Directors is now looking for an Artistic Director who will lead the Company with passion, dedication and creativity to new levels of artistic achievement.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR 藝術總監

The Position
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Artistic Director is responsible:
To provide strong and inspirational leadership to enable Chung Ying to achieve its artistic and strategic objectives
To lead and develop artistic policy to create quality programmes and plans
To identify, engage and support new, emerging and established writers for high standard of theatrical input to new plays produced and staged by Chung Ying
To develop and widen the audience spectrum for Chung Ying’s productions locally and internationally
To recruit and lead the artistic team with staffing structures that are responsive to emerging needs and can promote effective team work
To collaborate with the General Manager to foster strong and productive relationships with existing and potential sponsors and partners, the theatre industry and the media to promote and enhance Chung Ying's profile and activities locally and abroad
To collaborate with the General Manager to foster a positive, open and responsive environment that encourages artistic growth and community engagement

The Person
The Artistic Director is expected to be someone who:
Has clarity of artistic vision and ambition, with a passion for theatre art
Has outstanding artistic reputation and track record of professional theatre production and direction; strong network with artists and the theatre community
Has strong leadership and artistic, strategic planning and resources management skills
Has relevant academic background and outstanding analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
Is able to communicate effectively in both Chinese (fluency in Cantonese and Putonghua is preferred) and English
